Author Interview: Kishwar Desai (Author of “Witness the Night”) at #JLF2019

There are few books I’ve discovered at my favorite bookstore. Some via other reviews. One book I can attribute to the former (I think) is one titled Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai. The eerie cover did catch my eye and the blurb kind of added to the curiosity.

After reading it, I knew I had to recommend the book to a few of my bibliophile buddies, including of course, my bookish twin DDS. No surprise, she loved it too. When we saw her name among the list of speakers at the Jaipur Literature Festival, we requested a chance to speak with her in person, and thankfully we got it.

Book Review: Witness the Night, by Kishwar Desai

When it comes to crime fiction, there are some books that are well known, like Sherlock Holmes or any of the Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple books of Agatha Christie or Inspector Virkar series of Piyush Jha, to name an Indian author in English off the top of my head. Then there are some books which are kind of hidden gems. One such book is Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai. I don’t remember how I came across the book, but it was the cover page that first caught my attention even before the blurb made me pick it up.
